It was inevitable

Ok, I admit, I was waiting for this one... White Wolf Publishing finally sued Sony for making their Underworld movie. As expected, Penny Arcade has something to say about that. This situation is just pathetic all around. On the one side we have a gaming company suing everyone in sight for using anything that looks even remotely supernatural. On the other side, we have a movie company so intellectually bankrupt that it has to rip off other people's ideas (as well as cinematorgraphy). Regardless of who wins this lawsuit, we all lose.

Update: PA posted a link to White Wolf's complaint form on their site, but it's misspelled. The real link is here (PDF format). As far as I can tell, White Wolf really are saying, "we invented vampires and werewolves". What's next ? Cereal company suing Ireland for their unsanctioned use of leprechauns ?

Fine. If either side wants a stupid lawsuit, let them have it. I'm still going to see the movie and play the games (IF, however, anyone of my friends would run a game...). If you look on White Wolf's website, they're discontinuing their WoD line anyway.
Hey, I want to run a Mage/Vampire crossover; Anyone interested?

Sure, as long as I get to be my technoshaman...

Sure. Be one. But I don't know how well a technoshaman will fit in with the dark and occult.

You know...I'd like to play a game. And I'd really like to play a mage. I don't care if it's a vampire crossover.

As for the lawsuit, I could tell from the beginning that it was a ripoff of Romeo and Juliet. I have my own opinion on why that's wrong. White-wolf has pissed me off since 3rd edition (except Werewolf, which was good). I hope the movie flops and White-wolf loses the suit. HA!

Um... I could be a really dark and occult technoshaman. But actually, it might be fun to play him in regular mode. He believes in spirits, but he thinks that vampires are those jumpy things you see in anime. It could be fun to introduce him to the real thing :-)

True enough. An innocent Mage that knows nothing of the vampiric world... your character would have so much naive potential.

Why can't I play!?!?!?

Also, PA linked an e-mail by Justin Achilli that says "Penny Arcade is stupid for not really reading the suit." I haven't read it yet. I have more important things to do...like find a job.

So, despite my poverty, I acutally read it. Check the blog for more.
